It's funny how you sometimes bumb into mentions of Python in odd places. I've been obsessing about Jeff Hawkins and his theories of how the neo-cortex of the human brain works. He has founded a firm to build intelligent machines, Numenta, and I just happened to glance at their employment prospects —though I'm not applying there or anything— and there's a mention of Python. It's not a requirement or anything, but they're into Python too.

The core of their products will be so intensive computationally that Python as such won't be fast enough. It is based on algorithms that are the basis of human intelligence. Or so Hawkins argues. I'm not going to go into details of Hawkins' argument. You have to read his book for it. But I have a feeling that that's important stuff they're working on.
