By the way, did anyone talk about the possible EU funding for the PyPy project? Is there some sort of a public progress report on the subject? Can anyone shed some light on the funding? Does anyone actually know the situation? All I've seen is "it's too soon to say anything about the funding", which might still be true.
I'm just curious.

Well, Laura got up at EuroPython2004 at the beginning of the pypy talk and said something I paraphrased as "(Laura's explanation - funding for Sprints from the EU is different funding than going to conferences, and they're trying to figure out how to deal, though the case officer and the original funding caller are all psyched but don't have the authority to actually do it...)"
