PyPy gets EU funding

This might be yesterday's news, but it seems that PyPy people have signed a contract with EU (which is noted on the front page too) that guarantees funding on the PyPy project for at least two years. According to Jacob Hallén, five core people should be able to work on PyPy full time and some others part-time. Additionally, travel expenses for people participating in PyPy sprints — the most important collaboration model for PyPy so far — can be paid provided that they are officially team members. See the full summary of the proposal for more details. As far as I know, Laura Creighton was one of the most important forces driving the application of the funding. We the Python community, thank you and everyone involved in the process.

Very cool. Now we'll just wait for the deliverables.
